Founded in 1986 as a spin-off of the Aerospace Laboratory of University of Liège, Samtech develops the general-purpose finite element analysis (FEA) software LMS Samtech Samcef, the multi-disciplinary optimization platform LMS Samtech Boss Quattro and the Open Integration Framework LMS Samtech Caesam. Key people involved
Ir. Tom van Eekelen graduated in 1993 as an Aerospace Engineer at the Technical University Delft (The Netherlands). He worked as a research assistant at the same University until 1998. Since 1998, he works for Samtech SA, on the development of the nonlinear LMS Samtech Samcef analysis module. His fields of expertise and scientific interests are finite element analysis, thermal analysis of charring ablators, radiation modelling and thermo-mechanical coupled solutions. He has an experience of about 14 years in the development of the LMS Samtech Samcef finite element code. He also teaches a thermal analysis course at ISMANS (France), as part of the course "MASTERE FEU".
Dr. Ir. Michaël Bruyneel, graduated in 1995 as Mechanical Engineer at the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons (Belgium). He obtained his PhD in 2002 at the University of Liège (Belgium) in the field of optimization of composite structures. He is the Head of the Solver Group and Project Manager at Samtech SA (A Siemens Company) in the field of finite element numerical simulation and optimization. His fields of expertise and scientific interests are structural optimization using the finite element method, computational fracture mechanics and design of composites structures. Over the last 17 years, he’s been involved in more than 20 R&D projects (mainly in the field of composites) with top industrial players of the aeronautics, space and automotive industries. He is Assistant Professor at the University of Liège (Belgium), where he teaches the Mechanics of Composites.
